Ever thought of creating a hologram twin, had the desire to feel “virtual” pain, kiss someone over the internet or hold a virtual wedding?!

They might not have made the cut onto your bucket list, but they’ve become a reality for some in the Metaverse…

Here’s some of the weird and perhaps wonderful innovations taking place in the virtual world:

A grandfather has eternalized himself by creating a ‘hologram twin’ so his future great-grandchildren can meet him, even after his death.

He used virtual reality technology made by StoryTerrace and US metaverse experts 8i, who used 30 cameras to record him telling stories from his life, then created a 3D version of him that could be viewed in a VR headset!

You could soon feel pain in the metaverse!

The armband, called UnlimitedHand, features muscle motion sensors. It uses electrical stimulation to manipulate arm muscles, mimicking sensations.

It could be used for virtual reality games, allowing users to feel a bird peck at their skin, or the wind across their arm!

Scientists in Pennsylvania have revealed a new technology that makes it possible to ‘kiss’ someone in the metaverse by sending life-like sensations.

They modified a virtual reality (VR) headset by fitting it with haptic technology meaning it simulates touch by applying forces, vibrations and motions

The tech could be used to drink from a virtual water fountain or take a puff from a cigarette!

A Florida couple held a virtual wedding in the Metaverse while simultaneously getting married in real life.

They had their avatars mimic their exact moves as they exchanged vows, so that guests who couldn’t physically be at the wedding wouldn’t miss out!

As underdeveloped as it is, the Metaverse continues to surprise and invent. With the technology still in its infancy, innovation can run wild & as technology continues to demonstrate, anything is possible…
