Happy Belated Memorial Day!

We hope you got your fill of flag waving and small town parades with the unofficial start of American Summerᵀᴹ! We know the de facto sponsors of MDW are hot dogs and lite beer (Caty is in heaven writing this), but we’re here to help you rebound from that into Chill Summer Vibesᵀᴹ.

Warm Weather Ideas & BBQ Friendly Foods

We’ve got a friend who is mega allergic to dairy. Can you imagine? No queso. No brie. No wiz… well maybe wiz, not sure if that even has dairy in it. Anyway, we made some vegan cornbread to bring to her spot and guess what, WE loved it. Cut the sugar in half for a less sweet version. Fast, easy, poppable. Pairs well with a Duckhorn Chardonnay from Napa — because in our hearts every week is Chardonnay Week. This makes a dynamic duo (like Caty and Verity outside of the kitchen) because the sweet, fake-buttery nature of the cornbread is elevated by this rich wine’s signature buttery-ness. Oh baby, we’re all buttered up.

As berry season picks up and prices drop, we inevitably over-buy. This seems insane coming out of a winter of these high-priced toddler necessities, but let’s not look that gift horse in the mouth. Toss any berries that are starting to look like they’re going the way of Emperor Palpatine into a baggie in the freezer and blend them up later with banana, OJ, and a little almond/soy/oat/choose your own mystery milk. Kid friendly and low sugar, this fake ass sorbet pairs superbly with an edible to take the edge off, but in lieu of (or in addition to?) that, how about Crémant d’Alsace Rosé de Noirs Brut? This beauty mimics Champagne but leaves you with budget for diapers. It’s red fruit galore with berries across the board, and bubbles will elevate even the un-fanciest of home culinary creations.

Meeeeeeeeats. That’s what everyone but Verity is going to be lovingly tending the grill over for the foreseeable weekends. You can do these easy Kalbi Ribs (Maui Ribs, for some reason, if you’re Caty’s FIL) for a punch of new flavor over your purist salt and pepper. Also oven friendly on a rainy day. For pairings, look no further than Seghesio Zinfandel. The sweet and savory ribs are enhanced by the fruit-forward, jammy, high alcohol wine creating a delicious, meaty harmony! What more could a carnivore ask for? Remember to eat some fiber.

What’s Up with Sipply

Our survey will be open for 1 more week before we draw winners of the Verity Uses Expert Knowledge to Find You An Amazing Reasonably Priced Bottle of Wineᵀᴹ (seriously, f*** whoever taught Caty to superscript). Don’t miss the opportunity to have a fantastic chat with this beauty and end up with a free bottle of delicious wine!

We’re also brewing up a couple new partnerships we’ll be excited to share in the coming weeks. In the meanwhile, tell us, what are you drinking?

Cheers!
