We’re into this concept of “damp” January.
It’s not dry… but not too saucey.
We’re loving this concept of a “damp” January. We could always lie and tell you we’re on a zero booze kick, but would you even believe it? This week we’re focused on low abv (alcohol by volume, in other words, you can drink more of it). It’s timely! It’s tasty! It’s damp?
Weekly review, with a side of sass
This week Verity chooses wine for her dad’s wedding (eek!) and talks about it. Plus… it’s got a dope bottle.
I’m here to report that… THIS WINE PLEASES EVERYONE! And it’s damn delicious. Full and rich in flavor, yet mineral and refreshing: what is this sorcery? Give this producer a standing ovation…” read more.
What we’re drinking (low-ABV-ish)
Casal Garcia Vinho Verde. Perfect for when you’re in the mood for a crisp, crushworthy white wine but know your kids will be up at six the next morning. Do your best to dodge a hangover with this Portuguese classic at 9.5%! Light with a slight effervescence, this beautiful expression wine is a perfect pre-during-and-even-post-dinner wine. Pairs with salads, seafood and lighter fare.
Cecchini Chianti Classico. While some Chiantis spend all day soaking up the sun which increases ABV, this producer reigns things in at 13% so you don’t have to. An Italian workhorse, this wine compliments pizza, pasta and lighter meats. Party on, Wayne!
WESAKE. Drink like the stars! Chefs at Nobu, the Beckhams, and sommeliers globally give this premium sake a standing ovation. With fruity, aromatic notes of melon, grapes and sweet rice, this sake clocks in at 13% and promises to elevate your favorite Japanese meal.
Looking for some excellent pairings with low abv drinkity drinks? They work with literally anything, so here’s what we think is tasty right now: white pizza (polarizing, but here we are), veggie chow mein, bratwurst (yup, we went there).

What’s up with the company
We’re user testing! Our phenomenal design team (c’mon, the site looks great) has been working on some upgrades to the platform design. Interested in giving us feedback? Hit up abby@sipp.ly. Oh how annoyed with us will she be for giving out her email instead of the hello box, hah!
Cheers!
