Why Isaiah Thomas is the piece the Boston Celtics should move

Is Isaiah Thomas on an MVP type season? Absolutely, so Deuce why in the world would you trade him while your team is in second place in the east? Well this is simple, I want to win championships and I want to win many. Isaiah Thomas is fun little gimmick player we all enjoy watching but let’s look closer:

The guy can’t play defense. You can run off any cute numbers you want but the reason he’s ranked ahead of someone like Lillard is because he has two of the top defensive guards in basketball taking the other teams offensive weapon. Last year in the playoffs the Celtics were without Bradley and it showed, big time. Smart wasn’t shooting quite like he was this season and Isaiah was stuck to playing most of the minutes and having to play hard on both sides of the ball. Shroder and Teague controlled the play at the guard position by driving on Isaiah all series. Series over, Celtics never stood a chance.

The offense is suspect and unproven. The Celtics are where they are in the standings because they play with a chip on their shoulder and try 100% nightly. While doing this they are still struggling against top teams(2–5 against top three in the east). When you get the full effort, like the playoffs, from other teams it will hurt Isaiahs game, the lane closes and limits his offensive abilities. So you now you have a small PG who can’t D up anyone and can’t drive the lane, not only to score but to drive and dish, not exactly the superstar Boston homers think he is.

What would I do? I would move him for Okafor. WHAT?!?! He can’t play defense and seems to be having a hard time getting minutes on the Sixers! Listen I know all of this and I still want him, Sixers aren’t winning anything this year and they have three 7 footers, no rush to play him. His defense can only improve and you can’t teach size, Brad is one of the best coaches in the game right Boston? You are moving an MVP candidate for a 7' 21 year old project??!? Seems insane. Well you may think that if you live in a bubble and really think you are winning anything this year. You know what making the ECF means? You lost. Plain and simple there’s one champion and 29 losers I don’t care where we finish. So now you have every piece still on the team, Jalen/Smart become your future and your scoring options while you have a very strong offensive front court. Oh and you’re young. You keep your Brooklyn picks and you have quite the up and coming team with cap room to get that veteran.

Why is it Isaiah you’re trading and not someone else? Okafor can be had for less, yes he could. Isaiah is a FA after next season and you have no reason to sign him. He will want max money, for a one way player that’s never won anything? No thanks(how’s Carmelo doing BTW). He also has limited use to this team, Jalen becomes your main scoring option with the picks you make the next two years. Tatum is my guy personally but I’ll take Fultz as well. Now where does Isaiah and his 25 million fit when he only plays one side of the ball and we have other options we want developing and getting minutes? Exactly.

Ohh ever hear of Lebron James? Ya we aren’t winning the East in the next few any way so you’re building to win in 3–4 years. This is the smart move Danny!!! Do it!
