A Trans Pennine Adventure In Waiting
October Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Adventure”
An invitation to Trans Pennine exploration.
These small signs pop up all over the place — in the middle of cities, out in the wilds, by disused railway tracks, along canal tow paths — and always seem to me like gentle invitations to come and join in the fun.
The Trans Pennine Trail — with over 350 miles for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders — lies within 20 miles of 25% of the UK population. Although it goes through several cities, a high proportion of it runs through unspoilt countryside.
The walkers’ route between Liverpool and Hull makes up the bulk of the coast to coast (Irish Sea to North Sea) route, and is the British leg of the E8 European Long Distance Walking Route.
I see it as an adventure in waiting because, although we have encountered and traversed several stretches of the Trans Pennine Trail in our travels, we have never deliberately set out to walk, cycle, or ride any of it.
Maybe next Summer.
