Lessons from Flamingos for balanced life.

While browsing through my photo albums last week, I came across Flamingo pictures I had taken during my visit to Jurong Bird Park in Singapore.

I have seen Flamingos during childhood in the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat. It is a saline desert where the greater Flamingos come to breed.

The world-famous Flamingo City is in the mudflats near the Kala Dungar outpost in the white desert in Kutch. During monsoons, they come in groups to breed in the desert.

The desert is inundated with water, creating a wetland. Since the place is close to the Arabian sea, the flamingos find their preferred food in the shallow water bodies formed during the monsoon. They feast on shrimps, algae etc., that breed here during rains.

Through some research, you get to know interesting facts about Flamingos.

They don’t just stay in the salty, brackish water in the desert and tropical countries but also live at high altitudes where the water freezes around them at night. They can also drink boiling water.

They survive and thrive in the most difficult of places.

As an Executive Coach, I often help my clients manage and thrive through the transition in the workplace. One thought that usually comes to mind is when Flamingos can easily transition through challenging situations, why should it be difficult for humans?

These insanely tough Flamingo birds are also great team players. There are many exciting meanings and symbolisms connected to Flamingos. If you are a Flamingo spirit, you are considered open-minded, with a vibrant personality.

Like Flamingos, humans dislike being alone. They thrive in groups. They are associated with strong family bonds and relationships.

The true beauty of nature, the Flamingo, stands tall and graceful, reminding us to live a balanced life.

We can adapt and thrive in difficult situations. Flamingos inspire us to seek surroundings that feed our potential to develop.
