Mia the cat arrived in style.

This is Mia, aka Creature.

My youngest son had a friend whose cat had a litter, and he brought one of the kittens home in his backpack. He’d spent the night with the friend and called me the following morning to ask if he could bring a cat. I told him no, but when his dad picked him up, he failed to tell him that I’d said no to the cat.

Of course, I was instantly in love. At around 10 weeks old, she was the cutest thing. And, really, she needed a good home. She checked out my study, sniffed some books, and curled up on my shoulder to sleep.

Dee, our older cat at the time, wasn’t too fond of the newcomer. I’d never heard Dee hiss before, but she spent the next few weeks hissing and growling at the furry baby. She soon got over it, and they became close friends and snuggle buddies.

I sometimes call her Creature because a writer friend saw her on a Zoom call and said, “Oh, a creature!”

At 15 years old, Mia, aka Creature is still the sweetest kitty and still loves to snuggle.

Thanks to the SWPSC team for the fun and inspiration.
