Are You Getting Your 8 A Day?

May Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Water”

--

Guess what is in the glass!

I hear you asking — getting 8 a day of what? He he!

So that photo — part of a series, was for a health campaign for drinking water — specifically 8 glasses a day. It was fun. I did not have the phone I have now and had to rely on a slightly grainy-ish iPad photo. By the time I was done, I was laughing so much. Always had a problem keeping a straight face for the camera.

Anyway, while the advice is to drink 8 glasses of water a day to stay healthy, the truth is, how much water an individual needs to drink depends on various factors. Your health conditions, your weight, whether you are pregnant/breastfeeding, other fluids consumed, and so on.

I remember, my mom had reduced kidney function and had to drink a restricted amount of water every day, portioning it out and making it last, which was tough, especially during summer.

Anyway, the fact remains that we MUST drink enough water and stay hydrated. In cold weather, we tend to drink less because we don't feel as thirsty. Apparently, by the time we’re thirsty, our body is already experiencing mild dehydration — did you know that? And that can cause headaches, fatigue, dizziness, etc.

So, *adjusting the halo around my head* let me wrap up by saying in my best voice— drink water!
