Baking and then Decorating
August Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Food”
Her heart is in the decorations!
My 13-year-old granddaughter is an artist. She spends most of her time in her room imagining and planning. Then she starts cutting, gluing, and sewing to create masks, bracelets, earrings, and more.
Happily, for all of us, she emerges from her room now and then to bake.
First, of course, she decides what flavor cake to bake. She carefully organizes the ingredients. Chocolate is a favorite.
She then gets out everything she needs making decisions about the size, layers, and shapes of pans she will use to create the cake. She has a container with various colorful and flavorful decorations, so making decisions about the decorations is part of her planning process.
She is old enough now that we don’t have to be in the kitchen with her checking as she mixes the ingredients or puts the pans in the hot oven. She knows what she is doing.
We love her cakes. They are delicious.
Remember, cake is food. It has flour and eggs and possibly some dairy, so it counts as food!
