A glorious staple of Indian jewellery.

Bangles are a staple of Indian jewellery. I love collecting bangles and gifting them. I can never window shop for bangles. A compulsive shopper, if I see a colourful display of bangles in any shop, I gravitate towards it. Transparent glass kadas are my all-time favourite and I have different colours in my collection.

While the traditional Indian look is incomplete without bangles, it also has historical significance. Ruins from the Mohenjo Daro excavation have discovered bangles made of copper and terracotta.

With innovation at its peak today, bangles are made of gold, silver, platinum, copper, glass, synthetic material, wood, fibre, silk threads, shells, Lacquer, etc. They are not just round, but you get them in different shapes and sizes. There are beautiful handpainted bangles as well.

Bangles don’t just add to your looks but also have health benefits. When bangles are worn on the wrist, it causes friction, which increases blood circulation. This reduces the chances of increased blood pressure.

The jewellery closet would be incomplete without some of these colourful bangles. The colours of bangles also have significance. Red bangles signify energy and prosperity, green stands for good luck and fertility, white for new beginnings, yellow for happiness, and orange for success.

“ Sometimes the tickling sound of bangles is just enough to fall in love”. Sruthi.
