August Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Food”

Malva pudding: Creamy, sweet childhood memories.

Malva pudding is a traditional South African baked dessert. It is a sweet, creamy, and rich dish. It bypasses your stomach to settle directly on your hips, my mom used to say.

I love Malva Pudding — the only problem is I’m diabetic and only have it occasionally. When I make Malva pudding (the linked recipe) I reduce the sugar content by nearly half.

I made it for friends last year. We enjoyed it with all the trimmings (cream and homemade custard) in the main photo.

My guest loved it but commented on how sweet the pudding was even with the reduced sugar contents.

For me, this pudding resembles beautiful childhood memories, love, and happiness growing up blessed with caring and amazing parents.
