Six Word Photo Story: Freestyle
When in doubt, move your body.
This year, I’ve been taking weekly in-person Contemporary dance classes in the weekday late mornings when my three sons are in school. It’s been so satisfying deepening my dance practice with new middle-aged friends who are also so passionate about dance as well!
There’s a saying that a dancer is both an artist and an athlete. I’m embracing the artist in me, but I need to strengthen my lower back and core to keep up with the physical demands of these dance classes. Contemporary Dance requires us to fully contract and expand our bodies as if our lives depended on it. It felt great to give my all in each dance lesson, but I often woke up the next day with such a sore back that I couldn’t even stand up straight without effort.
Now, with the super extended 6-week school holidays here and being the main caregiver for my kids while my husband is still super busy at work, I can no longer enjoy these weekday morning dance classes. My workaround was to use an online self-paced training program that offers three exciting movement goals: front splits, side splits, and backbends.
While my kids are psyched about online gaming, this training program gives me all the adrenaline rush in working towards…
