There were times I thought I’d never get to see the men in makeup one last time.
I purchased tickets for the End of the Road tour in the middle of 2018. The first date was set for November 2019. As November approached, I was ready to rock. A few weeks out from the Australian leg of the End of the Road tour, Paul Stanley got influenza.
First, they moved the Perth gig to the end of the Australian tour. I could wait an extra two weeks. No problem. But Paul Stanley didn't get medical clearance to fly, and KISS cancelled the entire Australian tour.
The End of the Road tour was scheduled to finish in New York City on July 17, 2021. There was no wiggle room to squeeze the Australian tour in anywhere else. So I made my peace that I’d missed the chance to see the men in makeup one last time.
But then COVID destroyed their July 17, 2021 end date plans.
An Australian tour was back on the agenda.
With the Australian borders slammed shut because of COVID, KISS rescheduled the Australian tour dates three times. September 2, 2022, was a definite go-ahead!
No excuses, no cancellations.
My husbeast teased me many times over the last two years. “By the time the show goes ahead,” he said, “the men in makeup will be in wheelchairs.” That said, he was the old man who brought earplugs along in case things got “too loud.”
Thankfully, I can report there were no wheelchairs in sight on the stage.
