July Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Cute Creatures”
Bear is patrolling the back yard.
We rescued this sweet boy (a shepherd/retriever mix) in November of 2015. He was almost 2 months old. We’d gone to the shelter looking for a Catahoula, but the one my youngest son was interested in seemed to have some stomach issues, so we kept looking and spotted this little cutie.
He was such a ball of fluff that the name Bear was almost instant. We walked him around outside with one of the shelter employees and knew he was the one.
He rode home with us just fine, but I quickly discovered, after our first visit to the vet, that he didn’t do well riding in a car. He got sick, and if I put him in the back, he’d anxiously try to climb to the front. It was too distracting, so anytime we had a vet visit in those early months, I’d put him in the front passenger seat and he was fine, albeit still nervous.
He’s rowdy, playful, and loving. He’s also my shadow and very protective. At almost 10 years old, he still acts very much like a puppy. He’s the bestest boy in the whole wide world, which is what I tell him every day. Multiple times a day.
