If Rotto was a Pokémon…
March Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Pet People”
Evolution changes of Rotto, Pokémon style.
Introducing (from left to right) Opal, Maya, and Rotto.
Opal, the Rottweiler, belonged to Brett, Rotto’s dog trainer. From the moment Rotto bounced into puppy school, he loved Opal fiercely. But like all naughty children, he wasn’t the best behaved with his ‘big’ friend. He’d launch himself through the air and swing off her collar.
That behavior continued through puppy school. If we were training solo, Rotto behaved beautifully. If Opal showed a flicker of interest, Rotto lost his little mind and scampered off to play. Rotto scrapped through puppy school … barely.
Maya was a one-year-old Doberman. She joined us for Level 1 Dog Training on a Sunday morning. Maya was well-behaved but a little cautious around Rotto as he bounced excitedly around her.
The three dogs looked like a family: Pa, Ma, and baby Rott. Pokémon day was fast approaching, and I badly wanted a happy snap for Instagram. Maya and Opal were up for the challenge and would often sit next to each other. Rotto, on the other paw, was not fond of the “stay” command, so he’d drift off before I could take a photo.
At home, we worked hard on “stay.” Slowly, Rotto got better, and on the very last day of dog training, I got my Instagram shot. Although sadly, Pokémon Day was a distant memory by then, and I was starting to think about dressing Rotto up to be the Easter Rotto.
