Living on the Edge
October Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Adventure”
Otherwise, you’re taking too much space!
Adventure is an experience in which one willingly takes risks, not out of necessity, but for fun. By pushing oneself, mentally and physically to the limit, and beyond, one achieves a goal.
The element of danger makes it a thrilling experience.
I took this photo on a recent trip to Ladakh, and the biker in this photo was one of the nine bikers travelling with us on this adventure trip. (You can actually see another biker just behind him).
We were in our four-wheel drive vehicles, following a route that was at places, sealed/tarmac road, and other places, it was dirt or off-road route to different parts of Ladakh. Our destination was one of the highest passes, Umling La pass, 19024 ft high, accessed by driving or riding on this world’s highest motorable road.
You can see from the image, the danger of riding a motorbike in such a rugged terrain, and on such high altitude, in minus degree temperature, but that’s what excites the bikers, giving them an adrenaline rush.
I was reminded of a phrase, a friend’s brother used to quote “If you aren’t living on the edge, you are taking too much space!”
