Mother Nature Does Its Thing, Regardless
April Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Life”
Spring colour rejuvenates our lacklustre Souls.
Since the first snowdrops opened in February, Mother Nature has been awakening at an ever-faster rate, regardless of frosts, rain, unseasonable Arctic winds, and a decided lack of enthusiasm from this warm-weather gardener.
Yet, from the image of one of our borders, taken yesterday on a rare bright day, it would seem I’m not needed at all. Well, perhaps to cut and feed the grass.
During Spring in the UK, hundreds of historic houses open their grounds to the public, those with woodlands offering, in turn, Snowdrop, Daffodil and now coming up, Bluebell Walks — with a handy spot for a cuppa & cake, and a warm, afterwards.
Britain is BIG on its gardens, to the extent that the National Garden Scheme produces brochures of the 3,500+ private gardens whose owners willingly open to the public, often with accompanying cuppa & cake — us Brits believe in priorities. And there are always plants for sale.
Our small town and most of the surrounding villages, do the same on selected weekends, late May to early September, asking only for a donation to a local charity.
