August Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Food”
The fruits of labour are sweet.
In October 2022, my daughter and I went berry picking in the forest. I brought my camera with me to capture the autumn colours. When we returned to our cottage, she asked me if she could try to take pictures with my camera. Of course, she could. I wouldn’t deny my kids a chance to nourish their creativity.
“Do you want to try something crazy and fun?” I said.
She agreed immediately without asking for specifics. So, I pulled that set of construction workers for model-making from my camera bag. For several years, they travelled with me, always waiting inside my camera back for their next adventure. They have moved mountains, fought giant caterpillars, and discovered a giant’s footprints in the snow.
Together my daughter and I created the scene depicted with our fresh berries, twigs and leaves she gathered in the surrounding forest. Once she was happy about the display, we set up the tripod and arranged the shot.
We spent a lot of time on the task and she was satisfied with the fruits of our labour. I enjoyed every second of it.
