Archeological brilliance etched forever in stone.

I took this image last month when I visited the historical landmark in Lonavala, near Pune. When I read Vidya’s November Prompt for the Six Word Photo Story Challenge, this image flashed in my mind. A perfect match for the wonderful prompt “Building.”

I was left dazed and spellbound, after finding these ancient prototypes on one of the pillars inside the ‘Chaitya Gruha ’ or Chaitya Hall of the Karla caves. The great intellect of our ancestors never stops amazing me. Imagine, they had the idea of making prototypes and engraving them on pillars, before building important architectural monuments way back in 160 BCE!

I could locate two among the three prototypes seen in the image. One is The Great Chaitya inside the prayer hall cave and the other is Asoka Stupa found outside the cave near the entrance.

I bow down to thee!

Thanks, dear talented Editors of the Six Word Photo Story Challenge — Mary Chang Story Writer, Sandi Parsons, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles for bringing these interesting Photo challenges every month.
