GIANT!!! Mind out of the gutter!

In between the serious chat about book banning and censorship and how the world is self-destructing, a library land laugh lightens the load.

Occasionally the giggle is about out-of-date books found on the shelves, with outrageous hairstyles from the 70s and 80s. Barcode and sticker placement are also prime sources of amusement. Some people pay no attention and slap on those labels, and in the blink of an eye, The Easter Bunny’s Assistant turns into the Easter Bunny’s Ass.

Once, someone posted a memo to all staff, highlighting that My Daddy is a Giant should NEVER be shelved at the front of a browser box, along with a photo highlighting the offence.

My librarian brain tingled. I was sure I had that book. At work, I discovered that not only did I have the book, but it also lived in a browser box. I made a mental note to always place it at the back. Boys will be boys. And if they ever discovered My Daddy is a Giant at the front of the browser box, they’d rearrange it every time they came into the library.

I’d like to say everything was smooth sailing because I work on my own and am responsible for putting all the books back in their correct home. But…
