Let’s spend a few minutes together.

Could anyone deny that babies of domesticated animals, such as kittens and puppies, are among the cutest creatures in the animal kingdom?

Well, baby wild animals are cute, too.

Take this juvenile raccoon, for instance. The appearance of its paw clinging to the tree trunk and its masked ebony eyes focusing on mine made it irresistible.

We enjoyed several minutes together.

Raccoons are mid-sized mammals and natives of North America. They live throughout the continent.

Raccoons stand out from other animals with their dexterous front paws, masked faces, and ringed tails.

Raccoons are primarily nocturnal. As omnivores, they eat a wide variety of plants and animals.

Raccoons are sometimes seen “washing” food at water’s edge. However, scientists believe they are actually examining the food and sometimes removing undesirable parts.

The silly song “Rocky Raccoon,” a track on the Beatles' White Album, inspired this story’s title.

Thank you to publisher Mary Chang Story Writer, editors Sandi Parsons and Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, and all the writers and readers of Six Word Photo Story Challenge for making the publication a happy place.
