“She thought it would be fun.”

I took this picture as I do many pictures — while riding in a car.

I love to travel, but don’t consider myself a typical tourist. This trip I was in Queretaro, Mexico for their Independence Day. I was traveling with three friends — these days, more often than not, I travel alone. That means I can roam and look for art and interesting people for days on end.

My friends aren’t difficult to be with, but a couple had limited mobility. This didn't bother me, but the reluctant leader in me feels the need to solve any problems and make things good for my friends.

So I found these touristy Model T Ford tours, where you ride in little Model T replicas that took us around town to see the sites and hear about the history.

The driver and guide, Julio, was charismatic and fun. He’d burst into song at times, to our delight.

The streets were a challenge because many were closed for Independence Day. I tried to take pictures as we went along, but when I saw something I found interesting, Julio usually had us tearing through the streets at rapid speed. The throngs of people didn’t help.
