Sunflower testament to your resilient strength.

It’s complicated, I know. Who’s right, who’s wrong, the backstory twists and turns in the mouths of the spin-masters and fifteen-second news blurbs meant to sway our support.

In this age of fast food, fast news, and fast pontifications, the heart of compassion is left behind in the rush to judgment. I watch in frozen horror as ordinary people are torn from their ordinary lives and forced to flee or fight an invader. Their lives and country torn apart.

I have their flag in my yard, I grew sunflowers this summer, and I’ve reached out to support individuals. Not enough, not nearly enough. All of it is weak and likely meaningless other than to make me think of their struggle every day I walk past this flower, sending positive energy into the Universe for what it's worth.

I have horses. One story I followed broke my heart as a woman in Kyiv let her horses go into the woods nearby since she couldn’t protect them or get them out. I sobbed in solidarity, imagining her desperation and strength to let them go. I’m not sure I could have done that.

I read that she found them after the shelling moved on. I hope that it’s true, all of it, so much…
