Savoring Every Sip

--

Coffee makes my day, every day

When my dietician told me I should avoid coffee I didn't respond. She nudged me. I said, “Not happening.” She asked if I could manage with 50 ml. I said no. I need my 350 ml. in the morning. But I did make a compromise. I no longer start my day with coffee because I have something else on an empty stomach to maintain my blood sugar levels and this changes every fortnight.

Anyway, I am proud of myself for splitting that 350 ml. in two. I enjoy 250 ml. an hour after waking up, after getting breakfast ready. I sit with Sury and savor every sip, listening to songs, and talking until it is time to return to the kitchen to continue cooking.

The next dose, 250 ml. (shhhh, don’t do the math) is just after breakfast around 11 am. Yum.

As for contemplating a day without coffee, let’s not even go there! My coffee is literally my mother’s hug in a mug. On days when my coffee filter shows me a heart when I pour the boiling water over the coffee powder — I am truly blessed.

Yes. Coffee makes me bloom. Rich South Indian filter coffee.
