Settlers — so different, yet so alike.

Settlers of my Colorado Rocky Mountains included a wide variety of people, professions, relationships, goals, and ethnicities, but they all had one thing in common — a sense of adventure.

You can still see their stories peppered through the Rockies in small towns which once boomed with the gold rush and other types of mining.

Sadly, some of those stories, like many around the world, include the slaughter and dislocation of native people, but among and alongside them are stories of compassion and mythical bravery.

During this time, the current capital of Colorado, Denver, was nothing more than a pit stop on the way into the booming gold rush towns of Idaho Springs (Where you can still find two active gold mines) and Central City (now thriving on gambling and tourism).

If you are a reader, check out the historical fiction novel, Centennial by James Michener. One of my all-time faves, like the Rockies.
