April Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Reflect”

--

A reflection of a haunting past.

Google Photos has strange ways to dig into my past. Sometimes, I enjoy these reminders, but other times, they make me long for beautiful people or situations that can only exist inside my memory.

And some of these photos make me reflect.

Kazan Cathedral, Moscow. Built in 1993, this is an impressive replica of the 16th-century church demolished in the 1930s by the Bolsheviks.

It made me think of all the lovely people I met there, with a positive, pragmatic outlook, who were deeply aware of their country’s troubled relationship with the past.

And with the present, I’d say.

History moves in circles, and, unfortunately, we are just playing along, repeating the game and reiterating the pain.

Thank you Mary Chang Story Writer for this interesting prompt.
