The American Dilemma

Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Movement”

--

Is America fraying at the seam?

I was born in 1949.

Five years later, Rosa Parks stepped into history.

History is full of movement.

And movements.

Black Civil Rights, Feminist, Sexual, Environmental, Disabled, Native Americans, Immigrants, Gays & Lesbians, and Transgender.*

The same demand.

Over and over again.

See us.

Include us.

Freedom for us and not just you.

But resistance, always.

What is the American dilemma?

Can all Americans be equal and the country whole?

The seam?

Jefferson’s equality.

And a Black woman sitting on a bus.

The fraying?

Equality’s resisters.

Dogs and hoses aimed at American citizens.

Movements are necessary for movement.
