Geoffrey the Giraffe is my hero.
Staring did not make this giraffe look away. I had no treats to feed it, no hands extended to pet it. Yet, the African woodland roamer came closer and leaned in. It was like it wanted to have a conversation. With it so close in proximity, giving me its undivided attention, I imagined asking the lanky animal this good question: What is the cultural importance of Geoffrey the Giraffe, the famed mascot of Toys R Us?
