The Danger of Nostalgia
April Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Reflect “
The past is a different country.
I spend too much time looking backward.
Perhaps it’s because I’ve got almost 75 years of memories.
More behind than ahead.
Thirty-three years in that background building in the photo.
Every day, I find a few minutes to walk or drive around my old college campus.
A confession:
I’m too much like the Jack Nicholson character in About Schmidt than I care to admit.
Life is unpredictable.
And full of warning signs.
I didn’t expect to discover Fortune-Cookie-Wisdom on my car’s rear window camera screen.
The past is gone.
The future is not yet.
The present is all we have.
Look around.
This, too, will be soon gone.
