Trees are endless source of knowledge.

Last week as heavy rain battered Bangalore, a three-decade-old Eucalupytus tree standing tall at the entrance of our apartment complex was uprooted and crashed to the ground.

It was sad to see this tree succumb to rain and storm. Fortunately, there was no damage to life and property, but we still mourn the loss of this old tree.
It stood tall at the entrance and has been a spectator to all the happenings in the complex.

This tree weathered numerous storms. There were times when some branches fell and went missing. There was always a splattering of leaves on the ground, but the tree always stood strong all these decades.

The tree appeared healthy and robust, but its roots had become weak and were not strong enough to support it.

We, humans, are also like trees. We may appear strong and healthy to the world, but would be hiding the insecurity of what lies beneath.

A fallen tree reminds us of the circle of life and our place in it.

“Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.” William Wordsworth.
