The Fiercest Dog In The World
Six Word Photo Story Challenge: Freestyle
Ha ha. Just our little joke.
This is the Caped Crusader. She’s posing by the sign to make herself look tough.
In reality, she’s the least aggressive dog I’ve ever known. Most non-aggressive dogs of my acquaintance will have their moments — defending their owners against attack, or their food bowls against intruders. Not so, the Caped Crusader. She will occasionally assert her authority over another animal, but it has to be small and quiet — perhaps a woodlouse or baby rabbit. She once acted the boss with a dog called Leo, and that made news.
Lack of aggression can be a good thing:
A visiting baby once caused a mini-panic by suddenly not being in the room — they do that now-you-see-me-now-you-don’t thing at a particular stage of mastering autonomous movement. The Caped Crusader, although troughing speedily from the bowl, picked carefully around the marauding fingers, shooting out an all-enveloping tongue to sweep up the surplus from the intruder’s face and arms. As we raced in, she gave us a pleading please-take-it-away look. I don’t know of another dog that would have tolerated that incursion from a stranger.
