The Magic of Public Art
August Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Travel & Transport”
While you heal, add more art.
I’m in the heavy travel phase of my life. If all goes as planned, at the end of the year I will have celebrated New Year’s in Antarctica, spent a few days in Argentina when I returned, taken three trips to Mexico, spent my aunt’s 80th birthday with her in Wales, attended a friend’s 50th birthday party in Houston (with a few days in San Antonio and a quick day trip to Galveston), taken a road trip from North Carolina to Maine with my cousin, went to a book festival in Savannah, GA, visited one of my oldest friends in Abingdon, VA, and taken lots of little trips around my state of North Carolina.
I’m a lover of public art and always try to find it when I am traveling. When traveling with a personal guide in San Miguel de Allende earlier this year, I had murals on my mind. He takes people to San Miguel often, but had no idea the murals were there. We found them. He said he would be back to bring others. I will take friends on a trip we’re taking there soon.
So many people have no clue about the gorgeous art all around us. Often, they don’t notice it. I do.
This picture was taken last month in Asheville, North Carolina. I had not been to Asheville since…
