This Grove Has Got a Glittery Shine
Summer Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shine!”
Holiday time — bring out the glitter!
I love a good glitter project, but I’m no longer allowed to use glitter at home.
I transformed an ordinary mirror into a magical mirror — Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? — for a Fairytale themed display at school. I say “display”, but it was more like a treasure hunt. I hid fairytale items around the library and awarded students points for each item they found.
That was six years ago, and we’re still finding glitter on the kitchen bench that doubled as my craft area.
I say I’m not allowed to use glitter at home, but that’s an exaggeration — I can get away with anything. Here’s the truth, it’s more of a self-imposed ban because I’m messy enough without glitter. Add in glitter, and I become a walking disaster zone. It’s just not worth the hassle.
Instead, I glitter away at school. Sometimes (okay, frequently), the cleaners at school frown sternly at me. But a box of chocolates makes everything okay. I’m very much into bribery and corruption via chocolate.
With my glitter fetish held in check at home, I couldn’t help but notice this setup in the shopping centre. Glitter Grove is the place to be this school holidays.
And the six-year-old inside me badly wanted to stay and play.
