This Is Me: May Prompt
May Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “This is Me”
Taking a moment to appreciate life.
It was a beautiful day in September last year — my birthday, in fact — when we decided to explore the UCR Botanical Gardens. We were prepared for a sunny day and lots of walking until the gardens closed at 3 p.m., after which we planned to have lunch.
As we walked into the Botanical Gardens, we were excited to see that they were celebrating the gardens’ 60th anniversary and it was a special day. I mean, way to celebrate my birthday, right? We had a lovely time. I had complimentary wifi on the campus for the next 15 days and I was grateful because it meant backing up photos as I clicked them, which is a boon while traveling, especially abroad.
At 3 p.m. we exited the gardens, hearts full, laughing, and headed out to lunch. As I admired the campus, I tripped and fell and broke my phone’s screen. That I injured my knee and twisted my ankle is inconsequential. I hurriedly checked to see if the phone was okay — and heaved a sigh of relief. Whoa! What a memorable day.
