Their special evening ended in tears.
The cool breeze blowing off the Los Gatos hills reminded me of how much I had missed social life. The couple sitting across from me was a cautionary tale of the pandemic’s destruction. Over sparkling wine, their relationship ended and blew away with the breeze and the fragrance of her subtle perfume. I gave thanks to the blue sky above that mine was a different fate.
