1. Radio Cherry Bombe

In her weekly podcasts, Cherry Bombe creator Kerry Diamond interviews the “coolest, most creative women in the food world”, from chefs, to bakers, pastry chefs, stylists, authors, writers and more.

Radio Cherry Bombe’s most recent pod is with Catina Smith. Catina is the founder of Just call me Chef, a sisterhood highlighting Black Women Chefs providing networking, mentorship and networking opportunities. Just listen… and then witness as this organization breaks the glass ceiling for women and shatters the stereotypes of what it means to be a black chef.

3. The Dave Chang Show

Dave Chang is a busy guy and his podcast shows it. Episodes run the gamut from conversations with his chef counterparts, to specific topics with tech, medical and historical experts, to dads who share how they are managing fatherhood during the pandemic. No matter the topic, you will always get an authentic and generous conversation from Chang.

Often, you’ll find him co-hosting an episode, like this most recent one, with his former Editor of Lucky Peach, Chris Yang. During this pod, they talk about Disney’s release of Hamilton, convection ovens, air fryers and the Food Network.

4. Good Food

Before podcasts were even a thing, Good Food by Evan Kleinmann was being aired on KCRW. Since 1997, Evan has interviewed more than 6,000 guests, ranging from chefs to farmers and historians on the intersection of food and human life.

Reflecting on the word independence, this recent episode of Good Food addresses a timely question: Who is free? Who is free to write their own stories, record their own recipes, dine where they want to, or be crowned the best restaurant in America?

5. The Splendid Table

Award-winning food writer and chef Francis Lam is the host of this popular pod that delivers a modern, multicultural, weekly snapshot of the culinary world. Peppered throughout each episode are Francis’ personal experiences from his own splendid table.

The most recent episode is with chef, author and personality Carla Hall. Take a listen here as they discuss Carla’s new Netflix Willy Wonka-esque cooking show Crazy Delicious and travel around the country to field questions from the audience as they riff on summer time cooking tips.

6. I’ll Drink to That!

A sommelier turned podcast host, Levi Dalton interviews famous wine personalities in candid discussions about the business and their lives. Fun fact: all episodes are recorded in Levi’s tiny NYC apartment!

In this most recent episode, Levi speaks with Zorik Gharibian, the founder of the Zorah winery, located in the Vayots Dzor region of southern Armenia. Their conversation spans 6,000 years, when wine in Armenia was first made and aged in amphora clay containers until now. Zorik also explains why he prefers to still use those clay containers to age his wine today.

7. The Sporkful

Dan Pashman’s The Sporkful has won all sporks of awards; from James Beard, to Webby to Sauveur. Rightly so, this podcast mixes the right amounts of humor and human touch. Don’t forget to bring your appetite to every episode since, as they say, this pod “is not for foodies, it’s for EATERS!”

In his most recent episode, Dan speaks with writer Kiese Laymon about his book Heavy: An American Memoir. In a very raw account of what it was like to grow up black and fat in the South. Kiese recounts an environment where his body drove his decisions and how that was layered in his complicated relationship with his mother.

8. Spilled Milk

Writers/comedians Molly Wizenberg and Matthew Amster-Burton bring us a food- related topic weekly that they riff on, and on and on. According to their website, “at times regrettably so.” They must be doing something right since no one is crying about Molly & Matthew’s spilt milk (and podcasts) since 2010.

Here is their most recent episode about Soft Pretzels and so much more.

Save Restaurants

The Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC) came together with their peers mid-March and has been tirelessly working to give a voice to all independent restaurants across the country. Once the PPP was announced, it was quickly understood that restaurants wouldn’t benefit from this plan the same way other small businesses would. Knowing intimately what is needed, the IRC has been communicating to congress what will save restaurants. They still need more voices.

Please help by clicking on the button below to tell congress that a restaurant stabilization fund is needed. Without it, independent restaurants won’t make it through. Let’s not imagine your favorite restaurants no longer able to welcome you, your friends, your guests, your families into their home. Let’s know that together we will once again be able to break bread, share stories and celebrate personal and professional milestones.

Tell congress to pass the RESTAURANTS act
