What is caffeine?

Caffeine is a organic substant created by photosynthesis process, usually found in coffee which is the most famous drinks nowadays. The history can be traced back around 2000 B.C. a shepherd in Ethiopia noticed his goats was very energized after eating a brown coffee seeds on coffee trees.

It is widely known that it helps you staying awake throughout day and night, and it seems to be a good idea to caffeined drinks, yet there are catches of taking too much caffeine. For instance, risking headaches, developing high blood pressure

Packaged foods, including beverages and dietary supplements containing caffeine, usually provide information on the label as to how much caffeine they contain. For example, a medication for alleviating migraine contribues of caffeine because it causes vasoconstriction. Consumers should thoroughly consider the amount of caffeine wheter it is safe or not.

How does it work?

Once consumed, it is absorbed in digestion tract including mouth and stomach. After that it goes in bloodstream and straight to our brain where the sleepiness occured.

The function is that it blocks the adenosine receptor where the neurotransmitter adenosine bound with the receptor and the sleepy period starts, but after the caffeine is dimished the accumulated adenosine in the nearby area will rush in; therefor the influx of adenosine is created. This is the reason you are exhausted after taking caffeine.

Caffeine can improve memory, decrease fatigue, improve your mental functioning, study after study suggests.

Is it safe to take?

For healthy adults, the FDA has recomended 400 milligrams a day, and there is wide variation in both how sensitive people are to the effects of caffeine and how fast they metabolize it depends on the various factors such as genetics.

Caffeine is safe according to the reason that it is created by plants to deprive pests and animals, and our ancestors, for thousands of year, involed with it. There are numerous amount of studies has shown that caffeine less that 400 mg/day is relatively safe. Moreover there aren’t any reports of death caused by the normal amout of caffeine consumed per day(2–3 cups of coffee).

However, there are catches for instance, some studies suggest that caffeinated beverages may worsen gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in some people because caffeine stimulates cells in stomach to produce more gastric juice. Moreover, taking caffeine alone while your stomach is empty, as mentioned before the gastric juice will destroy your stomach.

Please be considerable on when to take caffeine and how to not hurt yourself for whatever reason you drink it for.
