A Beginners Guide to Sketch Libraries 🔗
Still not sampled Sketch Libraries? You’re missing out!
Sketch Libraries are the perfect remedy for potential design collaboration woes when working as part of a team. You can sync, share and update Symbols across all of your documents, allowing your designs to stay consistent and up-to-date when working on a project of any size.
So what is a Library in Sketch?
A Library is basically a Sketch file/document containing Symbols that can be used globally (as opposed to just locally).
You can share a Library by either storing it on a Local Server, by using a Cloud Service such as Dropbox, or even via a Version Control system like GitHub or Abstract. As a result, you and your teammates can have access to the same Libraries from one central location.
Adding Libraries
If you or your team has created a Design System, for example, you can manually add it as a Sketch Library via Preferences > Libraries. Just click Add Library… and choose the relevant Sketch file.
