Sketch app users anxiously await Silver Flows launch
Silver Flows first appeared in late November 2015 with a promise to help users build lightweight mobile prototypes directly in SketchApp. Since that initial teaser tweet and website launch, Sketch users have been chomping at the bit to see exactly what Silver Flows can and cannot do.
For many users, Silver Flows represents the only forthcoming solution for creating interactive prototypes directly within Sketch app. Therefore, Silver Flows seems like an option to help Sketch compete with the soon-to-launch prototyping tool from Adobe called Project Comet. There’s no firm launch date set for Silver Flows, but based on recent tweets (see the Storify below), it could be within the next few weeks.
Comet is not available yet, so it’s yet to be seen if it will be the Sketch killer that some people predict it will be. It will be interesting to see the industry-wide response once we can all get our grubby lil’ paws on Comet. Will a design-and-prototyping all in one tool turn out to be what we actually want, or just what we think we want until we see it?
Until both Comet and Sliver Flows are widely available, it will be hard to do a detailed comparison of each. Adobe Project Comet has posted a fair amount information in website and video format see. Silver Flows also has a good back-story article that presents screen samples and videos. At the moment, pricing information does not appear to be available for either.
Soon we will see if there will be any tradeoffs to all-in-one apps like Comet and/or Silver Flows. It will be interesting to put them to the test and see if they truly are a more desirable option than the current fragmented options (of Sketch plus some other 3rd party prototyping solution).
There are lots of users in both the Adobe and Sketch camps that are eager to see what Comet and Silver Flows have to offer.
