How it all started

Two years back I build an MVP online tool that dealt with the same concept, Sketch to PPT converter. Later on, I decided to enhance the experience and making it a plugin rather than an online tool. With some better performance and enhanced experience here I am introducing Deck — The sketch plugin to convert your designs into an editable PPTX file. Since PPTX is an open-source format by Microsoft, it can be open using Microsoft Powerpoint, Apple Keynote & also Google Slides

Why design in Sketch?

Sketch is a tool that revolutionalized the design industry because of its minimalistic approach. Even though Sketch is not meant for designing presentations, designers still use it as its quite modular and much simpler compared to the current presentations tool.

Also since Sketch deals with designing Interfaces, designers often have to deal with situations where they have to present their concepts to Products Owners, Stakeholders & other team members.

A conversation with the client 😉😁

Getting started

Checklist

Before using the converter make sure you have checked the followings

  • All artboards must be of the same size
  • All icons/assets must be made as exportable (PNG) for a better output
Adding a layer/group as exportable in Sketch

Install Deck

Download and install the latest version of sketch plugin on your machine by visiting our website Download Deck

Conversion Process

Select the artboards that need to be converted to a PowerPoint. Each artboard represents each slide. Artboards arrangement must be from bottom to top in the layers panel (ie) the first slide will be in the bottom and the last slide at the top. Here is a plugin to make it easier — Sort Me

  • After selecting the artboard, Go to Plugins → Deck → Convert
  • Click on Proceed
  • Once the file is uploaded and converted, hit the download button

Privacy

After a successful conversion, the file is saved to the server. On hitting the download button and once the file is downloaded by the user, the file is removed from the server. Also, we don’t save any configuration on our servers. Learn more

Roadmap

I’ll be expanding Deck to other platforms such as Figma & XD. If your a Figma / XD user who’s interested in trying out the plugin, you can join the waiting list here.

Let me know your feedback and suggestions. Cheers 🎉
