Simple Fruit Smoothie with a Protein Punch

A Café Confictura To-Go mini-post by Mrs. Phillipa Creaverton

A mix of berries, juices, and protein for a healthy start to the day.

Who doesn’t have a busy life?

If you’re like me, you try to make your to-do list as efficient as possible, and that includes meals. I need to watch my diet closely and make sure I’m getting all my recommended whosits and nutritional whatsits, so the more I can pack into one meal, the better.

Bonus points if it’s quick and easy to make.

This fruit smoothie is simple and sweet with enough good stuff in there to satisfy those hunger pangs and keep ’em quiet for a few hours. What I do is mix up a big batch of it at once so I’ve got about five days’ worth to get me through the workweek.

Plus, because it’s a yummy vehicle for protein, antioxidants, and vitamins, for me this is a perfect breakfast shake or midday pick-me-up.

What you’ll need*:

1 ½ cups carrot juice

¾ cup tart cherry juice

2 cups orange juice

2 cups frozen strawberries

1 cup frozen raspberries

1 ½ cups frozen blueberries

1 scoop Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein powder (I use the Lightly Sweetened variety)

Optional: flax and/or chia seeds for extra Omega-3s

*Depending on what size blender you have or if you prefer a thinner or thicker consistency, you may need to adjust these measurements. Feel free to experiment with other juices and fruits, too.

Combine all juices and berries in a blender, and blend on high until you have a smooth texture.

Then, pour a 16-oz serving and whisk in your protein powder and seeds until thoroughly mixed. Store your leftover smoothie base for up to a week in the fridge.
