Happy New Year friends,

I hope you had a wonderful winter break. I know it’s a bit hard to get started back up after a long break but personally, I feel invigorated. Besides the fact that I got to listen to and watch the Baby Shark song more than I would have liked to, the ideas are flowing and I hope to catch them all. A break is exactly what I needed to get back into the flow of reading and writing. As a result, I am on a renewed quest to learn, create, and share more this year.

I want to thank you for sticking it out with me for one more issue.

Let’s make 2019 a breakout year!

During the break, I had the chance to visit Turkey and Pakistan. Meeting new people and seeing the historical sites had a profound effect on me. I truly believe that travel changes us for the better. It opens our hearts and minds to the world and brings people together.

The idea of carefully choosing a word for your year is fascinating to me. It’s like having a mantra to remind yourself of what is important to you. But be careful not to rush through and pick a word off the top of your head instead take some time to carefully arrive at your own word. Once you have your word ready, you can use it to guide you throughout the year.

I came across the idea of having a word your year through Ben Crother’s Presto Sketching newsletter, which you should definitely subscribe to. The idea came from Dr. Jason Fox.

I have started thinking about what my word will be and will share it with you once I am ready. I would love to know what yours is.
