“Sunset” is a photograph taken by Stories on film that we shared along with a poem written by Matt a few weeks ago. An image burned on the left margin, a burn that became the space in which Irene added the lines of her poem. This is “Burned Sunset”…

I burned the sunset.
I watched it fade.
Is there a return from this state?

I looked through the ashes,
I watched them settle.
Was there a certain path for them to travel?

I somehow forgot there’s a beach.
I watched the sea waves crash.
Are they going to wash up all of the ash?

I saw the sun,
I watched it shine.
I guess the burned sunset is now left behind.
