The Rebels boys’ soccer team finished in second place during the regular season, yet fell short against a dominant LaSalle team in the Division 1 state finals. The Rebels could not top the Rams and lost once again, 3–0.

The Rebels only lost twice during the year, both against the eventual state champion, LaSalle. Despite the end result, the team finished with a record of 13–2–2 and was the first Rebels soccer team to make the state finals since 2007.

Senior captain Colan Gulla commented that “many teams in the past never had the chance to play in a final so it was a great accomplishment for this team to make it there.”

Next year, the team will be losing nine seniors and will look to fill in the gaps to make another playoff run. The seniors, according to Gulla and his teammates, have played together for many years and the strong season positively capped off their high school careers.

While this year’s team was outstanding, there’s no telling what next year’s outlook is.

Senior Jackson Dunn is confident that “[the seniors] paved the way for future generations at SK.”
