How do I have a good following ratio on Instagram?

Jill’s Answer:

First of all, make sure your account is set to “private,” so that you get to determine who follows you and who doesn’t. Whether or not you accept someone’s follow request depends on how many followers you have. If you’re trying to gain more followers, then accept the requests. If you don’t care about your ratios, then accept or reject who you please.

Your instagram ratio, or your number of followers, does not reflect how many true friends you have in “real” life, so don’t be too concerned with the numbers. That being said, if you happen to be using instagram to stay connected with friends, then you’ll probably only accept requests from people you know and talk to on a regular basis. Or, you may be using instagram as a platform for advertisement or to enhance your business, in which case you would want to accept any and all requests you get.

Regarding those who attempt to follow you multiple times, even after you reject them, that’s a sign you should block them. There’s nothing more annoying (or creepy) than someone persistently disregarding your decision to reject them. On that note, you don’t want to annoy your followers, either. If you want to post photos, but aren’t sure your followers would appreciate or understand them, then you should consider making a “finsta-gram.” Here, you can post photos that you would not want followers from your “real” account to see. You might want to limit the followers you accept to close friends in this case.

The SKHS Rebellion Instagram has a following ratio of 160:300

Jack’s Answer:

When it comes to social presence, only the coolest kids have a positive Instagram follower ratio. The first thing you need is good content; this is a good excuse to get out of your house and do something. It’s important to maintain the mirage that you actually do fun and exciting things when really you’re just capturing an artificial moment.

Next, and probably the most crucial element of any good gram post, is the perfect caption. This shows followers your true attitude towards the situation; whether it be serious, funny, or anything in between. I always find that a good caption and a good photo will always guarantee a good amount of likes. Also, if you’re really desperate, get tagged in a photo by a popular friend who happens to have a lot of followers.

For example, local high school student Logan Leonard has never accomplished any social media fame, however, since he has two famous brothers, he has many Instagram followers. Finally, if you’re feeling risky, don’t be afraid to show a little skin. Your average likes will sky rocket after that one post, and it will be a while until you have to post anything of substance.
