Senior standout Kevin “K Rob” Roberts shows some “ups” against a recent opponent from Stonington High School.

The South Kingstown Boys’ Basketball team captain Kevin Roberts has had a successful season, but in early February he proved why he is one of the best big men in the state.

The Rebels came out fired up for their senior night versus rival opponent North Kingstown. After cooling off, however, the Rebels fell to the Skippers 67–59. Although the Rebels came up short, Roberts had a huge night with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior Captain Eric Gaudette commented that “Roberts has been one of the bright spots on the team, despite our many losses.”

Next year the team will try to recover from a 4–12 record while filling in the gaps as three keys seniors move on next year; including Roberts, who will be taking his talents to play baseball for URI.

There is no telling what next year holds, but with the loss of Roberts many underclassmen will need to step up.

Roberts is confident that “the team will make a run for the playoffs next year,” and added that he will miss playing with his Rebel teammates.
