After a successful fall, both the SKHS Cross Country teams are preparing for the final stretch of their schedule with their next upcoming meet at Burrillville Middle School on October 22nd.

The boys’ team stands at 9–3 while the girls’ team is poised at 10–1 with sophomore sensation Ellie Lawler making record breaking contributions to the squad.

According to Hallie Manchester, captain of the girls’ team, “The varsity members have been working really hard.”

“They have a good shot of improving their times,” she added.

Jake Liberis, captain of the boys’ team, is also optimistic with his teams’ prospects. “We have seven great varsity runners,” Liberis said.

Liberis also expressed his excitement for the upcoming meet. “Our main focus tomorrow is to track our improvement from the beginning of the season to now,” Liberis said.

Sophomore Ellie Lawler takes an early lead at recent meet at Goddard Park.

Pat Rooney, a senior on the team, said he has great expectations for the meet tomorrow.

Manchester explained that this meet is considered to be “the beginning of our championships, [which] are two races; class and states, so this is our prep.”

Both teams hope to bring their best performances to the class and state meets in late October and early November
