SMILE , a local science and engineering program at SKHS, helps further students interests in the field of science in partnership with University of Rhode Island.

SMILE students learn all about different types of science and varying forms of life and where they live whether that be in salt water, fresh water, or even on land. Students in SMILE also learn about different types of atoms and what there function.

The club is led by SKHS science teacher Mr. Johnson and meets every Monday in room 302 and then continues on into the biology lab, where most students conduct scientific experiments and observations.

“ Smile is an excellent opportunity for students to learn and further their interests in the scientific field.” — Mr.Johnson

The club also part takes in many field trips some even associated with the Save the Bay organization. These field trips include bay cruises and other oceanographic related activities. Field trips are also done with other organizations and visit all different places as well.
