Share the Sail Croatia — Day Six: Blue Lagoon, Drvenik Veli

After the relatively exciting events of the day before in Hvar, we were anticipating a considerably quieter day. Of all of the locations we had visited so far on this sail, Blue Lagoon was likely the most naturally beautiful. There were no mooring balls, so everyone was anchored. There were no restaurants either, just a few private houses up on the hills, so it was very quiet. There was a dock where a local tourist company brought in people during the day, but that was around the island a bit, so it didn’t bother us.

The water was brilliantly clear, even more so than in other locations, which was amazing since all the water along the coast was clear to the bottom, but here it was exceptional, like an aquarium. You could make out every detail along the bottom all across the lagoon.

Once anchored, many of us went ashore to explore the island. There was a road nearby that led up the hill to the top with an amazing view. A few vacation homes were scattered along the way, but all appeared to be empty at the time, likely just used for holiday outings, rather than actual permanent homes.
