The morning of day two on the boat started with beautiful scenery, glassy smooth water, and some instant cappuccino. It was so peaceful and quiet, just what I had hoped for…until the fishing boats showed up…

We saw the slightly larger of the two steaming toward the mooring from open water. At first, we thought maybe it was some sort of officials coming to check out the boats, but quickly realized it was a small fishing boat. There was a man up on a platform yelling down at the driver and another man in a smaller boat following along. They proceeded to circle the various sailboats on moorings, yelling loudly all the while between the boats in what I imagine was Croatian, as if no one else was around, and there weren’t sailboats everywhere full of people attempting to enjoy the beautiful and formerly quiet morning.

Eventually, they stopped and idled right next to us, having found the fish they were looking for, diesel chugging loudly, tied a line to our mooring ball, and proceeded to…
